The School of Interdisciplinary Global Studies (SIGS) promulgates a vision of global studies that is broadly interdisciplinary and transcends traditional geographical definitions. SIGS brings together the disciplines of Africana Studies, International Studies, Latin American & Caribbean Studies, and Political Science studies to foster an understanding of the world. Our interpretation of global studies includes a commitment to recognizing the linkages between our diverse local community and the world. We are situating USF, Tampa Bay, and Florida into the global context. Because of this, we recognize that it is of primary importance to commit ourselves to promote diversity, both within the unit and in what we offer to students, the local community, and our respective scholarly communities. Some of our key areas of expertise include the transatlantic region, social movements, diasporic studies, human rights and genocide, citizenship and identity, and migration.

SIGS offers three B.A. degrees: BA in Africana Studies, BA in International Studies, and BA in Political Science. We also offer four graduate degrees: an MA in Political Science, and MA in Latin American, Caribbean, and Latino Studies, an MLA with a Concentration in Africana Studies, and a PhD in Government. SIGS also offers a wide variety of graduate and undergraduate certificates. Each of these degrees provides students with a first-rate education on the subject matter, and each degree imparts valuable critical thinking and communications skills. All of our degrees do an outstanding job giving students the tools they need to succeed in the job market or in post-graduate education. Our exceptional faculty provide interesting courses, conduct high-impact research, and serve the university, their professions, and the community at large. Our excellent staff members provide first-rate support for students and faculty.
