Research

Research in my group principally aims to understand the geochemistry of trace metals in the marine and earth systems, and the role they play as micronutrients and/or toxins in biogeochemical cycling. We make use of high-resolution multi and single collector ICP mass spectrometers (Thermo Neptune Plus and Element XR) to measure elemental concentrations and isotope ratios in a range of geochemical materials including rocks, sediments, atmospheric dust, rain, seawater, marine particles and biological materials. We have interests in a range of isotope systems in the modern earth system and the geologic record, especially Fe.
