Bio

Shakhawat Tanim is a PhD student of School of Geosciences, USF. His interests are in using GIScience and behavioral modeling for transportation and emergency. His PhD research is focused on mass evacuation modelling for emergency management and simulation. His previous significant works are modelling the fuel conversion pattern of Dhaka, indexing and developing tools for vulnerability for hurricane evacuation for counties of Florida, and evaluating vulnerability of hospitals in destructive earthquakes.

Tanim holds a B.S. in Urban Planning and a M.S.in Disaster Management. He has 4 years of working experience in consulting and research firms where he applied GIS for urban and transportation planning and emergency management. He has also worked in CUTR (Center for Urban Transportation Research), Tampa, as a GIS analyst for a motorcycle injury prevention program.
